From the S25 Ultra's flat display to the Z Fold's foldable cover screen — model-specific picks that work with the in-display fingerprint sensor and survive curved edges. UK-tested, Amazon UK linked.
The 30-second answer: for an S25 / S24 / S23 series Galaxy, get the Samsung Official Tempered Glass if you can find it for your model — it's tuned to the in-display fingerprint sensor. Otherwise the Spigen EZ Fit works flawlessly. For curved-edge displays (Galaxy Edge, Z Fold) the Whitestone Dome Glass is the only product that gets a true edge-to-edge fit.
Samsung's flagship displays do three things that complicate screen protection. First, many of them curve at the edges — the S25 Edge, the Z Fold's cover screen, the legacy Note Edge. Curved displays defeat ordinary flat glass; the protector either ends short of the edge (leaving exposed glass) or extends to the edge and lifts. Second, Samsung uses an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor that reads through the screen — and through any protector you put on top. Cheap, thick or low-quality glass blocks this signal. Third, Samsung now ships foldable phones with both an internal flexible OLED and an outer cover display — different protectors for different surfaces.
The good news is that the brands which specialise in Samsung have all spent the last few years solving these problems. The recommendations below are filtered to ones we've verified work with each phone's biometrics and curve.
The S25 Ultra is Samsung's 2025 flagship — flat 6.9" display, ultrasonic fingerprint, and the new Edge variant with curved sides. For the standard S25 and S25+, any quality flat-glass protector works (Spigen, Belkin, ESR, Samsung Official). For the S25 Ultra, prefer Samsung Official or Spigen. For the S25 Edge, you'll want Whitestone Dome Glass or Samsung's own — flat glass will lift at the curve. See our dedicated S25 Ultra protector guide, or browse on Amazon UK →
The S24 series moved the Ultra to a flat display (finally) — making protector fitting much easier than its predecessors. All major brands have S24-specific variants. Samsung Official and Spigen are the safe picks; Whitestone Dome remains optional for the perfectionist. See our S24 Ultra protector guide, or browse: S24 Ultra · S24 / S24+
The S23 series still has the curved Edge profile on the Ultra. Whitestone Dome or Samsung Official are the only protectors that get a true edge-to-edge fit. Standard S23 and S23+ are flat-screen and accept any quality glass. S23 Ultra · S23 series
The Fold has two displays: a flat outer cover screen (use any standard glass — Spigen makes Fold-specific variants) and an inner flexible OLED that cannot take tempered glass. The inner display ships with a factory-fitted plastic protector that wears off — replace with a TPU film, never glass. Spigen sells an inner-display TPU film for both Fold 5 and Fold 6. Similar story to the Fold but smaller. Outer cover display takes a small flat glass; inner foldable display takes TPU film only. The Flip's outer display is small enough that universal compact-glass protectors fit. Z Flip 6 protectors →
Samsung's A-series outsells the S-series in the UK. They're all flat-screen, so any quality glass works. amFilm and Supershieldz cover most A-series models with budget 2- or 3-packs — best value option for these mid-range phones. A-series protectors →
If you're still rocking a Note 20 Ultra, Note 10 etc., the curved Edge displays mean Whitestone Dome or Samsung Official are your only good options. Aftermarket flat glass will lift at the curve. Note protectors →
This is the single biggest concern for Samsung buyers — and rightly so. The S20-onwards Galaxy phones use ultrasonic fingerprint sensors that send a sound wave through the display glass, bounce it off your finger, and read the print. A thick or low-quality protector attenuates this signal, leading to slow recognition or repeated failures.
The fix:
The Galaxy S25 Edge, S23 Ultra, Note legacy series, and Z Fold's outer display all use curved-edge OLED. For these, only three protector types deliver a proper edge-to-edge fit without lifting:
Cheap unbranded "edge-to-edge tempered glass" for curved Galaxy phones almost always lifts within a few weeks. Don't waste your money.
Samsung Official Tempered Glass — guaranteed sensor compatibility.
Whitestone Dome Glass — UV-cured, true edge-to-edge.
ESR Armorite — 110lb impact rating, slight thickness premium.
Kuzy Privacy — works on flat-screen Galaxy models.
amFilm 3-Pack — cheapest per protector for A-series.
Spigen NeoFlex / TPU film for inner display, glass for outer.

Browse on Amazon UK →Probably not the protector itself, but the phone needs to recalibrate. Go to Settings → Biometrics → Fingerprints → delete all stored prints → re-register. This works in nearly all cases. If it still fails after recalibration, the protector is too thick — replace with a Samsung Official, Spigen or Whitestone option.
No, never. Tempered glass cannot fold; it will shatter the first time you close the phone. The inner display takes only flexible TPU films — Spigen NeoFlex is the most common option.
Yes. Standard flat tempered glass simply cannot wrap around the curve — it will end short (exposing the curve to scratches) or extend over and lift at the corners. Use Samsung Official, Whitestone Dome, or accept that the curved edges will be unprotected.
