Short answer

For almost every iPhone, the best buy is model-specific tempered glass with an alignment tray, such as Spigen's EZ Fit, or a budget three-pack from Ailun or JETech. What matters is matching the exact model, and 2026 made that easier in two places: 18 Pro glass fits the 17 Pro, and 18 Pro Max glass fits the 17 Pro Max.

How to choose, in order

  1. Match the exact model. Screen diagonals repeat across the range (the 18 Pro, 17 Pro, 17 and 16 Pro are all 6.3-inch), so a matching size doesn't mean a matching protector.
  2. Decide case-friendly or edge-to-edge. If you use a case, choose case-friendly. See the difference.
  3. Get a tray if you've never fitted glass. It fixes the only step that's genuinely hard. See alignment frames.
  4. Pick a finish. Clear for most people; privacy for public transport; matte if glare really bothers you.

Which iPhones share screen protectors?

Do I need a screen protector on an iPhone with Ceramic Shield 2?

It resists everyday scratches better than older iPhones, but grit and sand can still mark it, and a replacement display costs far more than a protector. It's optional if you use a lipped case and don't mind small marks.
