iPhone Air screen protectors

At 5.64 mm, the iPhone Air is the thinnest iPhone Apple has made. A protector is a bigger share of its thickness than on any other iPhone, and its narrow flat border shows off a bad fit.

Short answer

Choose thin (around 0.3 mm) tempered glass cut for the iPhone Air, ideally with a tray. The Air's flat border around the display is very narrow, so case-friendly glass leaves a more visible gap than on other iPhones. Accept that gap if you use a case; if you don't, glass that reaches closer to the edge looks better.

Thin phones have less flat glass around the edge of the display. Protector makers make case-friendly glass slightly smaller than the flat area so that a case lip can't catch it. On the Air there's so little flat area that the leftover border is easy to see, especially on a light background. It's cosmetic, not a defect, but it explains a lot of disappointed reviews.

Choosing between the two compromises

  • With a case: use case-friendly glass and accept the visible border. Otherwise the case lip pushes on the protector's edge, and it lifts within weeks. See protectors lifting at the edges.
  • Without a case: glass that sits closer to the edge looks neater. Without a case, though, the edges take knocks directly, so expect to replace it sooner.

Also avoid thick "armoured" glass here. On a 5.64 mm phone, an extra 0.5 mm is something you'll feel in the hand.

Questions people ask

Why does my iPhone Air screen protector look too small?

Because it's case-friendly glass, made slightly smaller than the flat area of the display so a case can't lift it. The Air's border is so narrow that the gap is more visible than on other iPhones. It's normal.

Is the iPhone Air still sold in 2026?

Yes. Apple carried the Air over into the 2026 range alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models, so protectors remain widely available.
