The Pixel range gets less attention from accessory makers than iPhone or Samsung — but the right protectors are out there. We've sifted through to find them. UK-tested, Amazon UK linked.
Quick recommendation: for any Pixel 9 or 8 series, the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit for Pixel is the one to buy. For a 3-pack budget option, amFilm covers most Pixel models well. The Pixel Fold needs flexible TPU on the inner display.
Pixels have a smaller share of the UK accessory market than iPhone or Samsung — which means cheap unbranded "universal" protectors often don't fit properly. The Pixel 8/9 Pro's slight curve and the under-display fingerprint sensor (optical, not ultrasonic — different to Samsung) both add complications. The good news: brands that do make Pixel-specific products tend to do them well, because they're competing on a smaller field.
The 2024 flagship Pixels have flat displays (the 9 Pro Fold is a separate beast). All major brands now make Pixel 9 variants — Spigen, ESR, amFilm. The 9 Pro XL has the largest display in the lineup at 6.8". See our dedicated Pixel 9 Pro protector guide, or browse on Amazon UK →
Inner foldable display = TPU film only, never glass. Outer cover display = standard flat glass works. Spigen makes Fold-specific variants. Pixel Fold protectors →
Pixel 8 series is still widely sold and supported. Protector range is at its peak — many brands, lots of variants, great prices. Pixel 8 protectors →
The Pixel 7 series introduced the under-display fingerprint sensor, which has known issues with thicker protectors. Stick to brand-name options here. Pixel 7 protectors →
The 6 Pro had a curved display — Whitestone Dome was the gold standard, but it's now hard to find for this model. Spigen NeoFlex (TPU film) is the most reliable curved-fit option remaining. Pixel 6 protectors →
Pixels from the 6 onwards use an optical fingerprint sensor that flashes a brief LED into the screen and reads the reflected fingerprint. Unlike Samsung's ultrasonic sensors, optical sensors are quite forgiving — they work through most quality protectors without recalibration. However, they can be slowed by:
If your Pixel fingerprint slows after fitting a protector: re-register your prints in Settings → Security → Fingerprints. This typically restores full speed.
Spigen EZ Fit (Pixel) — alignment frame, sensor compatible.
amFilm 3-pack — best for kids' Pixel or budget A-series.
TPU film only — Spigen NeoFlex is the safest.
Avoid on Pixel — interferes with fingerprint sensor.
Does a privacy protector affect Pixel fingerprint? Yes — the angle filter in privacy glass blocks the optical reflection that the under-display sensor needs. We don't recommend privacy protectors on Pixel 6/7/8/9 unless you're prepared to use the side-mounted power button as a workaround (it doubles as a Pixel 8/9 fingerprint sensor on some models — verify your model).
Will a screen protector affect Pixel face unlock? No. The Pixel 8 Pro and 9 Pro use Class 3 face unlock with sensors above the display — completely unaffected by any screen protector.
Why is there less choice for Pixel than iPhone? UK Pixel market share is roughly 4–6%, vs 50%+ for iPhone. Accessory makers prioritise where the volume is. Stick to the major brands (Spigen, amFilm, ESR) for guaranteed Pixel-specific variants — you won't find Belkin or Whitestone for Pixel models.
