Why older Pixel advice is wrong for the 9 Pro
Pixel 6, 7 and 8 phones read fingerprints optically, by lighting the finger and photographing it through the glass. Thick glass and privacy filters could get in the way. The Pixel 9 generation switched to ultrasonic, which reads through layers far better but struggles with air gaps. So the rules changed: privacy glass is generally fine now, and rim-only adhesive is the thing to avoid.
