Buy a 6.3-inch tempered glass protector whose listing names both the iPhone 18 Pro and the 17 Pro. Apple's figures give the two phones identical outer dimensions, and Spigen, Ailun and JETech each sell one protector for both. The smaller Dynamic Island makes no difference, because protectors for recent Pro iPhones cover the whole top of the screen with no cut-out.
Is the iPhone 18 Pro the same size as the 17 Pro?
On Apple's own spec sheets, yes. Both measure 150.0 × 71.9 × 8.75 mm with a 6.3-inch display. That matters more for screen protectors than for almost any other accessory. The glass sits on a flat front panel, so if the panel's outline and corner radius match, the protector matches.

Dimensions alone aren't proof, though. What settles it is manufacturer cross-listing: when a brand like Spigen sells a single product as fitting both phones, it is taking on the returns if it doesn't. That is a stronger signal than any measurement we could quote.
What about the smaller Dynamic Island?
Before launch, some leaks claimed the 18 Pro's smaller Dynamic Island would mean 17 Pro protectors no longer fit. That turned out to be wrong. The Dynamic Island is a black area drawn on the display around the front camera and Face ID sensors, all of which sit under Apple's front glass. Mainstream protectors for recent Pro models have no cut-out there, so the size of the island has no effect on fit.

Launch-week buying advice
- Check the brand, not the title. In the first weeks many unbranded listings simply add "18 Pro" to the title. Branded cross-listings come with returns behind them; a keyword in a title doesn't.
- Don't pair it with a 17 Pro camera lens protector without checking. Camera modules change between generations more often than the front panel does, so buy lens covers that name the 18 Pro.

Do you need one on Ceramic Shield 2?
Apple says Ceramic Shield 2 is much more scratch-resistant than earlier generations, and for everyday scuffs that's believable. Scratches from sand and grit are a different matter: quartz is harder than any phone cover glass. Protection from the odd drop onto a pavement edge is another. A protector is a cheap, replaceable layer that takes that damage instead of the display. If you keep the phone in a clean pocket, use a case, and don't mind a hairline mark, going without is a reasonable choice.
