Cover screen (6.5-inch): tempered glass listed for the Z Fold7. Inner screen (8.0-inch): keep Samsung's factory film; have Samsung replace it if it wears. Only use Fold8 Ultra glass if the listing names the Fold7 too.
Fold7, Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra
| Model | Cover | Inner | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z Fold7 (2025) | 6.5-inch | 8.0-inch | This page |
| Z Fold8 Ultra (2026) | 6.5-inch | 8.0-inch | Fold8 Ultra guide |
| Z Fold8 (2026) | 5.5-inch, wider | 7.6-inch, 4:3 | Fold8 guide |
The standard Fold8 is obviously different: wider and shorter. The Fold8 Ultra is the tricky one, with the same screen sizes as the Fold7 in a new body. Wait for protector makers to list both before you treat them as interchangeable.
Cover screen
The cover screen is where a Fold picks up scratches: it faces outwards in your pocket and sits face-down on tables. Tempered glass works here just as it does on any slab phone. Kits with a tray and camera lens covers are worth the small extra, because Fold camera bumps stick out a long way.
Inner screen: the factory film stays
Samsung fits a protective film to the Fold's inner display and advises against removing it. Don't put glass on the inner screen, because it can't fold, and don't add a second film on top. If the factory film starts lifting near the crease, which can happen after long use, have it replaced at a Samsung service centre rather than peeling it.
What to buy
Questions people ask
Can I put a screen protector on the Z Fold7 inner screen?
It already has one: the film Samsung fits at the factory. Keep it on, don't add glass, and get it replaced by Samsung if it wears.
Do Z Fold8 Ultra protectors fit the Z Fold7?
Screen sizes match, but the Fold8 Ultra is a new body. Only rely on it if the protector is listed for both.
