Why cheap curved glass fails
Glass can't bend to follow a curve after it's made, so "3D curved" glass is pre-shaped. If its curve doesn't exactly match your phone's, only the edges touch, and makers stick those edges down with a rim of adhesive. The middle floats, creating a rainbow-ringed halo and an air gap over the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
