Match the model code in Settings → About phone, because a Redmi, Poco and Xiaomi model are often the same phone with different names and slightly different dimensions. Flagships are frequently curved; Redmi and Poco are usually flat and take ordinary full-adhesive glass.
The model code is the only reliable match
Open Settings → About phone → Model number. Xiaomi's naming is the reason this matters more here than anywhere else: a phone can be sold as a Redmi Note in one market, a Poco in another and a Xiaomi elsewhere, and the versions are not always identical. Listings often claim all three.
Flagship, Redmi or Poco?
| Range | Screen | Fingerprint | Protector |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi flagship series | Often curved | Under-display sensor | Curve-specific protection |
| Redmi Note | Usually flat | Optical or side key | Thin clear full-adhesive glass |
| Poco | Usually flat | Often side key | Any decent glass fits the bill |
Xiaomi's newest flagship line typically launches in China months before it reaches Europe, and often arrives here SIM-free only. If you've imported one, aftermarket glass may be listed under the Chinese model name, so search both.
Optical sensors and cheap glass
Most Redmi and mid-range Xiaomi phones with in-display readers use optical sensors, which photograph your fingerprint using light from the screen. Thick, tinted or privacy glass interferes with that. Thin, clear, full-adhesive glass is the safe choice, then re-register your fingerprints.
Questions people ask
Do Redmi and Poco phones use the same screen protectors?
Sometimes, because they can be the same hardware renamed, but not always. Match the model code rather than trusting a listing that claims both.
Does privacy glass work on a Redmi?
Often badly. Most use optical in-display sensors that need light through the glass, and a privacy filter blocks it.
