Buy 8.8-inch glass listed for your generation. Both Legion Go models share that screen size, but the Go 2 moved to OLED in a revised body, so don't assume one generation's protector fits the other. At this size an alignment frame is close to essential.
The two generations
| Model | Screen | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Legion Go (2023) | 8.8-inch IPS, 2560 × 1600 | Detachable controllers |
| Legion Go 2 | 8.8-inch OLED, 1920 × 1200, 144Hz | Revised body; OLED panel |
Why the detachable controllers matter
With the controllers off, the Legion Go is a bare slab you hold by its edges, usually propped on its kickstand. That means the screen gets touched, leaned on and set down far more directly than on a fixed-controller handheld. It's the strongest argument for a protector on any handheld.
Fitting 8.8 inches of glass
- Run a hot shower for a few minutes and fit the protector in the steamy bathroom; dust is the main enemy at this size.
- Detach the controllers so the slab lies flat.
- Use the frame. A degree of rotation across 8.8 inches is obvious at the bottom edge.
- Lower from one end rather than dropping it flat, so air pushes out ahead of the glass.
Full routine in our installation guide, and bubbles covers the rescue if a speck gets under.
OLED and matte
The Go 2's OLED panel is the reason to think twice about matte glass: deep blacks and fine detail are what you paid for, and a textured surface scatters both. If you play outdoors often, a matte protector is still defensible, but try clear first.
Questions people ask
Do Legion Go and Legion Go 2 share screen protectors?
Both screens are 8.8-inch, but the Go 2 has a different panel and body. Buy glass that names your generation.
Is a screen protector worth it on a Legion Go?
More than on most handhelds. With the controllers detached you handle the bare slab directly and stand it on desks.
